Our Trails

We are so lucky to be surrounded by so many choices of spectacular trails. The Golden Gate Dairy Stables is the hub of several trail heads that tie the Golden Gate National Recreation Area trails to State Park trails, north of our stables. One can ride either direction to the Marin Headlands with spectacular views along the coastal trail, or from the Tamalpais State Park trails through the valley along Redwood Creek to the Marin Municipal Water District on Mt Tam.

We offer rest stops, tie-ups, manure pick up and watering for visiting equestrians, as well as overnight boarding with guest stalls or paddocks.

We are unable to offer riding to the public. We recommend Five Brooks Ranch in Olema (415-663-1570) for private or group trail rides.

Trail Advocacy and Safety

Ocean Rider members are mostly a group of avid pleasure riders, enjoying the immersion in nature on the back of a horse. We have had members who have competed in endurance and ride and tie. We are an exceptional place to train due to some technical steep hills so invite guests to come for training. We share many of these trails with hikers and mountain bikers so expect members to uphold and model exceptional trail riding etiquette on safe and experienced horses.

Our coastal and Green Gulch trails have amazing ocean views, often with refreshing breezes and a great escape from inland heat, much appreciated by our growing Icelandic horse population.

The Redwood Creek Trail, for foot traffic only, takes you through the shade of Redwoods, Bay and Buckeye trees and over bridges that cross beautiful Redwood Creek.

We annually host the Go Slow and Say Hello tent in our parking lot for the MCBC Dirt Fondo, helping to educate mountain bikers about safe trail sharing. We also participate in the annual Bay Area Bridge ride, hosting a rest station in our parking lot each year.

Beach riding is a privilege we carefully safe guard so it is important we carefully choose our time when tide is low and it isn’t crowded to avoid congestion and conflict with dogs, kids, and other beach goers.

We can ride out our driveway to the "top of the world" with views of Mt Tamalpais, the Farrallon Islands on the horizon of the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco peeking through the hills of the Headland.

Our gratitude for having Green Gulch Farms as our neighbors is as abundant as the happy organic vegetables that spring from their fields. We love getting to ride through the farm and enjoy its various seasons and see how our horses have contributed to the thriving produce.
